Project 21/21
In early 2019 we achieved planning consent for a purpose-built new headquarters, which was unanimously approved by Coventry City Council’s Planning Committee.
Project 21/21 is our plan for this new building which will be environmentally friendly, sustainable and ideally suited to the activities of the Scouts. Replacing the existing Scout Hut, it will allow us to continue to serve the community in Eastern Green for another 50 years.
Why do we need a new Scout hut?
Our current building was built in 1973 and is now showing real signs of its age. The timber frame is nearing the end of it’s useful life and has had to have metal plates fixed to it to strengthen the structure. The external pebbledashed panels are debonding and falling apart. Large cracks have appeared and we have had to clad one part of the building in PVC to prevent water ingress.
The Scout HQ is also used by a local Playgroup, and the combined activities now mean we have run out of room to accommodate the large amount of equipment needed.
Our plan
Our aim is to begin construction, subject to achieving funding, in 2021. This coincides with the exciting plans for Coventry to become the UK City of Culture 2021.

The construction of the building has been independently costed at £997,263.36.
This has been subsequently broken down into the following phases of construction. Following years of fundraising, we are pleased to have already funded the first phase of construction, and we are now seeking support for the funding of additional phases, in whole or in part.
